Secretary Clinton and Ambassador Rice: Make Sudan a Priority Now

Madame Secretary and Madame Ambassador,

You have long been champions for peace in Sudan. Now is the time for your personal and sustained leadership on Sudan.

Six months ago you rolled out a new Sudan strategy, and it was a good one, but since that time:

The situation on the ground has deterioted

  • An ongoing government offensive in Darfur
  • A national election that was neither free nor fair
  • A continued arms race between North and South
  • No accountability for war crimes

U.S. policicy is stalemated.

The United States is losing credibility as a mediator.

In January 2011, Africa's largest country will split. It is time to acto to prevent a return to full-scale national war.

Secretary Clinton and Ambassador Rice: Make Sudan a priority now.

Ask Secretary of State Clinton to support democracy and human rights in Sudan
