Save Darfur Marks Inauguration of Barack Obama, Presses Urgent Action from New Administration

Fowler: Our movement has hope for this new administration

WASHINGTON – Jerry Fowler, president of the Save Darfur Coalition, today marked the inauguration of President Barack Obama by stressing the need for urgent action on Sudan - most notably in the Darfur region of the country.

"President Obama and his new administration have raised the hopes and expectations of the world community and the broader constituency of conscience committed to ending the atrocities in Darfur and promoting a just peace in Sudan. The Darfur movement will stand behind this president if he acts boldly on Darfur, and will press him should he fail to act swiftly. The world is watching for how President Obama will lead on Sudan starting now."
