WASHINGTON- On Tuesday at 3pm EST, the White House will host a live webcast with the Save Darfur Coalition and STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition. U.S. Special Envoy to Sudan, Scott Gration, and National Security Council Director for Multilateral Affairs, Samantha Power, will take questions that have been submitted by Darfur advocates across the United States. The webcast comes just days after over 800 activists came to Washington to lobby for Darfur and Sudan on Capitol Hill.
The interview, “Ask U.S.”, will stream live at 3pm EST. Representing the Darfur movement will be Save Darfur Coalition President Jerry Fowler and STAND Director Layla Amjadi. The concept for the webcast was initially proposed by the Save Darfur Coalition in an effort to help activists engage directly with the Obama administration.
“This conversation will offer a direct line of communication from the advocacy community to the Obama administration,” said Jerry Fowler, president of the Save Darfur Coalition. “I look forward to representing concerned activists who want know what the next concrete steps are for implementing the administration’s Sudan’s policy.”
