How to Lobby:
You can help pressure Congress to do more to help the people of Darfur by meeting with your congressional representative or members of his or her staff.
- Find your members of Congress and contact them by email
- Visit DarfurScores – what have your legislators done to end genocide?
- If your members have a poor record on Darfur, educate them on the issues. If they are already a leader for Darfur, thank them for their support and urge them to continue their efforts.
- Read GI-Net's Day 75 asks for up-to-date talking points and actions your legislators, President and other key officials can take to help end genocide, including:
- Write a letter to President Obama to get Humanitarian Aid Back into Darfur
- Make a commitment to question Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Sudan
- Make a commitment to question Secretary of Defense Robert Gates on Sudan

U.S. Congress
House Resolution 241: Commending the International Criminal Court for issuing a warrant for the arrest of Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir, President of the Republic of Sudan, for war crimes and crimes against humanity, and expressing the hope that this will be a significant step in the long road towards achieving peace and stability in the Darfur region
Purpose: This resolution:
- Commends the International Criminal Court for issuing an arrest warrant for Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir;
- Condemns the expulsion of international aid agencies, which further threatens the lives of over 1.1 million people who depend on these organizations for food, water, health care, and safety;
- Calls upon the international community to persist in its efforts to bring President al-Bashir to justice and to pressure the Government of Sudan to cease its campaign of violence;
