How to Host a Movie Screening
Organize a screening event for your community. Consider inviting a broad range of community groups to join you, including faith leaders, book clubs and student groups.
There are several films from which to choose, including full length documentaries and Save Darfur's short films. Some are available for download on our site, others as DVDs. Two options include Violence Against Women and the Darfur Genocide, or our film for faith groups, Darfur: a Call to Action.
Check out our video resource page for a complete list of suggested films. Coming soon...
One Month Before the Screening
- Choose a DVD. Consider that some full length features may charge a screening fee. The Save Darfur Coalition short films may be screened to any public audience with no screening charge.
- Find a location where an audience can watch a DVD.
- Select a date and time.
- Register your event on our event central.
- Advertise the event. Email your friends and family. Reach out to local groups. Ask your friends and family to invite more people. Reach out to local news outlets to write about the event or include an announcement in their publication. Ask faith leaders to announce the event during services and include it in congregation publications. Announce the event at public libraries and through school information outlets. Be creative and get the word out!
- Get your action materials ready. Print out copies of petitions and information available on the Save Darfur Coalition website and donation pledge cards.
