George Clooney Leads Delegation for Darfur

Save Darfur Coalition Travels With and Advises Clooney-led Trip



Save Darfur Coalition's Executive Director David Rubenstein and Ambassador Lawrence Rossin (ret.) are traveling with and advising high-profile celebrities and Olympic athletes on a human rights mission to China and Egypt to discuss the genocide in Sudan's Darfur region with senior government officials and to urge both nations to use their influence over Sudan to end the killing.

Organized by Academy Award-winner George Clooney, the delegation also includes Don Cheadle, Academy Award nominee for "Hotel Rwanda," and Olympic athletes Joey Cheek (United States ) and Tegla Loroupe (Kenya).

The Clooney-led delegation will meet on Friday, December 15, with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to brief him on their meetings. Immediately following their meeting, the delegation will hold a press conference at the United Nations to discuss their trip.
