For thousands of years, people have used imagery to not only document life and the world around them, but to express their feeling and opinions on it. Some of our activists have used their talents as visual artists to bring attention to mass atrocities in Darfur and South Sudan. Ranging from realistic depictions of people and places to abstract notions of both the physical and emotional aspects of life, the works of art created by these artists highlight not only the pain and despair of those suffering in Darfur and South Sudan, but the artist's admiration for these people's courage and hope for the future.
The paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, graphic designs and other visual arts mediums featured in our Creative Community show how impactful these visual statements against violence and injustice in Sudan can be.
