What is "activism"? At its root, activism is about educating and inspiring yourself and others to create the changes you desire to see in the world. There are no set guidelines on what exactly this entails, who can be involved or how to accomplish it. It's left up to each individual activist to examine the unique tools they have at their disposal and talents they possess. So while some individuals focus on writing letters to the editor, lobbying their representative or holding rallies, others have turned to more creative outlets to get their message out.
Over the past year, more and more people have begun contacting Save Darfur Coalition about the artistic projects they have undertaken to help raise awareness about the ongoing crisis in Sudan. We were so impressed by the pieces sent to us that we began to do some research of our own to see what else was out there. What we discovered was a collection of highly talented and deeply dedicated activists from around the United States and the world who have harnessed their art to advocate for peace in Darfur and all of Sudan.
This is our Creative Community. A forum to display the poetry, music, art, theater, dance, multimedia and film projects you have created to raise awareness or to educate others about the conflict in Sudan.
If you have a piece of art you would like to contribute or would like to receive updates on the creative community, please email creativecommunity@savedarfur.org. Be sure to include your project content and a few sentences about your background and what inspired you to create your work. Unfortunately, we will not be able to include all submissions.
Please Note: The artwork featured on this site represents the opinions and beliefs of the individual artist, not necessarily those of the Save Darfur Coalition.
