Pittsburgh Northstars for Peace

Thank you for visiting our gymnastics team Dollars for Darfur page.

With your help, we can make a difference for the people of Darfur. Each year at the gym we have a team challenge to motivate us. This year, when the coaches told us abouto the tragedy in Darfur we decided to raise money and donate it to the Dollars for Darfur campaign. We did many projects including a movie night, poetry contest and weekly gymnastics challeges. Our big event was a Flea Market/Kids festival. The fesitval included face painting, obstacle courses, trampoline, climbing wall, inflatables, and making rain sticks. We sold refreshments and performed dances that were specially choreographed for the event. The highlight of our kids fest was a visit by our Congressman, Jason Altmire.

To see pictures of our event go to www.jewarts.com and click on photo gallery. The plight of the victims of the Sudan made us all appreciate our families and freedoms here in the United States. Dollars for Darfur is a national high school competition to raise funds to help end the genocide in Sudan. Our school is competing with other institutions across the country to show our concern about this issue.

Students can make a difference. There are over 27,000 high schools in the United States. If each school raised just $50, we could raise over one million dollars. Donating through this website is simple, fast and completely secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts. All funds raised will go directly to the Save Darfur Coalition, a non-profit charity.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might also wish to donate.
