Thank you for visiting the Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School Leadership Dance for Darfur donation and information page. The Dance For Darfur is an all-school dance to be held at JM on Friday, April 18th, 2008, from 7:30 to 9:30PM. Only students of Joaquin Moraga may attend. Dress is casual (school dress code applies). 100% of the proceeds will be sent to the Save Darfur Coalition. A student behavior/dance permission slip must be on file at the office. Admission to the dance is $7. Leadership will sell/distribute tickets from room 36 the week of April 14th-18th. Parents may also donate directly (tax deductible) at this site (JM receives credit) and bring proof of donation to receive a dance ticket. Checks must be made out to Save Darfur Coalition and are also tax Deductible. Parents, neighbors, and friends are encouraged to consider donating to help this worthy cause. Please contact JM Leadership with any other questions. With your help, we can make a difference for the people of Darfur. Hundreds of people are being raped, starved and murdered by the Sudanese armed forces and a Sudanese government-backed militia known as the Janjaweed. As many as 400,000 people have died and more than 2 million Darfurians have been left homeless. The United Nations Security Council authorized a peacekeeping force for Darfur, but the Sudanese government is continuously blocking its full deployment. Meanwhile, the calculated campaign of displacement, starvation, rape, and mass slaughter continues. Dollars for Darfur is a national school competition to raise funds to help end the genocide in Sudan. Joaquin Moraga is competing with other schools across the country to show our concern about this issue. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might also wish to donate. JMIS Leadership |
