Miami Coalition to Save Darfur

The Miami Coalition to Save Darfur, a project of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, is an alliance of organizations, groups, and individuals in the Miami-Dade region who are working collectively in the hope of seeing the genocide in Darfur, Sudan, brought to an end. What is required of Coalition members is to educate others about the horrific genocide taking place in Darfur, and to take action when needed. The JCRC generates The Darfur Report, an e-newsletter designed to educate the community on the ongoing genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan and to provide updates and resources on related political and legislative matters. The newsletter also features recommended articles and Op/Ed's, videos, as well as updates on local Darfur-related events. In addition, when the situation requires, the JCRC sends Action Alerts to the Coalition, which are mostly time-sensitive items. In the past, those actions have ranged from contacting our Miami-Dade Congressional delegation to contacting media outlets to signing postcards and petitions. We ask Coalition members to not only read those educational pieces and take those actions, but also to disseminate the information in order to educate others and hopefully increase the amount of voices speaking out on this issue.
