Portland, Maine is home to the largest community (about 80 people) of Fur tribal members from Darfur of any city in the United States. Fur Cultural Revival is their organization. Fur Cultural Revival has been actively involved in public education about the genocide in Darfur for over two years. We have successfully lobbied the Maine State Retirement Fund to divest $50 million from 18 companies doing business with Sudan. We hold weekly vigils in downtown Portland and continue to speak around the state and region about the issue.
