New York City Torch Relay (Olympic Dream for Darfur Event)

As the world prepares for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, an event that stands for peace and brotherhood, China continues to abet genocide in Darfur. On behalf of Dream for Darfur, STAND and the Save Darfur Coalition, we invite you to participate in the national launch of Dream for Darfur, Help bring the Olympic Dream to Darfur. This event is an important opportunity to pressure China to take immediate and urgent action to help end the genocide in Darfur.



It will be a moving ceremony wherein survivors of genocide from Darfur, Armenia, Nanjing, the Holocaust, Cambodia, Bosnia, and Rwanda will pass the torch among politicians, activists, and representatives of prominent organizations from across the country. After the torch ceremony there will be a brief speaking program and and many will participate in a vigil down to the Chinese Mission to the UN.

: Olympic Dream for Darfur official events in the US are organized by the Save Darfur Coalition, STAND, and the Dream for Darfur. They feature a torch that started its journey in Chad, just across the border from Darfur, will continue to the sites of previous genocides, several cities in the US, and arrive at China's doorstep in December.
