Pdx Dream for Darfur (Olympic Dream for Darfur Event)
Wed. 11/7 - All day Camp Darfur for middle and high school students to visit hosted by Lincoln High School STAND in SW. Survivors from Cambodia, Rwanda, the Holocaust, Armenian descendants and Darfur will be available to speak to students and walk through Camp Darfur. We would like a large cross section of schools from Multnomah, Clackamas, Clarke and Washington Counties.

Thurs. 11/8
All Day: Peacemakers Conference - 3 workshops on Darfur including one that focuses on China and Darfur. Camp Darfur will be set up (http://stopgenocidenow.org/campdarfur/) . Presenters include Katie-Jay Scott, Sarah Stark and Gabriel Stauring from the Portland Coalition for Genocide Awareness and Stop Genocide Now. This conference is open to ANY middle and high school group - information will be available on Resolutions Northwest's website after 9/17 (http://www.resolutionsnorthwest.org/pg46.cfm)
1. 9:40 – 10:55am - Interactive Camp Darfur: Understanding and Stopping Global Atrocities – From Awareness to Action
2. 11:05 – 12:20pm – Interactive Camp Darfur – Repeat Session
3. 1:15 – 2:30pm – Bringing the Olympic Dream to Darfur – The connection between Darfur and China. Students will help with last minute preparations for the Sunday Interfaith Service and Torch Relay

7pm: Premier Screening of Darfur Now at Fox Theatre with Panel
Darfur Now is the newest documentary on the situation and the people who are working to end the genocide. A panel discussion will follow the screening with Mohamed Yahya, an exiled Darfuri, Gabriel Stauring of Stop Genocide Now, James Myik from Southern Sudan and KTJ Scott from the Portland Coalition for Genocide Awareness. Tickets are free so please RSVP to RSVPDarfurnow@gmail.com to reserve your tickets for this event.

Fri 11/9 - All day Camp Darfur at local college or university.

Sat 11/10: Dream for Darfur event in Eugene Oregon 11am at the Wayne Morse Free Speech Plaza on 8th and Oak hosted by the Lane County Coalition for Darfur.

Sun 11/11 – 4pm Interfaith Service – Never Again including a candlelight vigil and passing the Olympic Torch – Kristallnacht – The day of broken glass – First Christian, 1430 SW Broadway
Through a network of the Interfaith Alliance, Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, the Inter-Religious Action Network of Washington County and the Interfaith Council of Greater Portland there will be an hour and half service where people of all faiths are invited to speak and pray together. Mohamed Yahya from Damanga Coalition for Freedom and Democracy will be speaking. After the service, community members will gather outside in the Park Blocks for a candlelight vigil and the passing of the Olympic Torch by survivors living in our community.

The Torch Relay will begin at 5:30pm, directly after the service.

Other Oregon events: Following Portland’s event on Sunday the 11th, Bend will also be hosting Camp Darfur and have a Torch Relay event starting November 11th and ending November 14th. By linking our events state-wide we can make a bigger impact.

: Olympic Dream for Darfur official events in the US are organized by the Save Darfur Coalition, STAND, and the Dream for Darfur. They feature a torch that started its journey in Chad, just across the border from Darfur, will continue to the sites of previous genocides, several cities in the US, and arrive at China's doorstep in December.
