Cincinnati Dream for Darfur Torch Relay (Olympic Dream for Darfur Event)
Please join us in the national launch of Dream for Darfur Torch Relay. Save the date for the Cincinnati Torch Relay, to bring awareness to the crisis in Darfur. Nick Clooney will be our main guest speaker. Notable torch carriers –Reds first base coach and 1990 World Series Reds team member, Billy Hatcher, journalist Nick Clooney, flying pig marathon winner, Leah Peelman, Olympic 400 meter runner, Mary Wineberg, and local Holocaust survivor and UC Professor Emeritus, Henry Fenichel and many other invited guests – will run the torch around the commons to raise awareness and impart an urgent message for advocacy and action. Following the relay, a presentation will be made emphasizing the critical and constructive role that China can play in ending the ongoing atrocities in Darfur. They feature a torch that started its journey in Chad, just across the border from Darfur, will continue to the sites of previous genocides, several cities in the US, and arrive at China's doorstep in December.
