Rally & Candlelight Vigil in Federal Plaza (Global Days for Darfur)
RALLY & CANDLELIGHT VIGIL
FEDERAL PLAZA, CHICAGO
6:30 - 8:00 pm
Along with the Chicago community, Members of Congress and State Legislators call for full divestment from genocide in Darfur.
A year after we rallied in Chicago, echoing the tens of thousands of voices on the Mall in DC, we return to fill the Federal Plaza with our candles, our voices, our friends and loved ones, our thoughts and prayers. We will be joined by leaders of relief agencies, human rights organizations and faith communities, in addition to city, state and national political leaders.
Rally 6:30 pm
Representatives from Darfur and from Illinois' political and religious communities will join together to announce our call for an end to the genocide in Darfur. Emphasis will be placed on pressing for enactment of previous UN and Congressional resolutions and acts, as well as support for divestment legislation currently pending in both the IL General Assembly and both houses of the US Congress.

POSTERS
If you would like to come with posters, here are some ideas for content related to divestment. Please feel free to create your own, as these are only suggestions. We certainly also want to continue to support the call for a peacekeeping force and the enforcement of a no-fly zone, which continue to be delayed; time is running out.
