Walk for Our Future: The Children of Darfur (Global Days for Darfur)
The children of today are the future of our world. There is a statistic that states that every 40 minutes, 2 children are killed in the region of Darfur, most likely under the age of 5. As high school students and fellow peers, we feel it is imparitvie to provide these students with some sense of knowing that there is hope and that there are poeple fighting for them.

We are holding walk-a-thon in which all profits made will go to the Darfur Chapter of the Save the Children organization (92% of all funds go directly to the humanitarian aid workers on site in Darfur). It is a mere two mile walk so that people of all ages can attend. Young children are more than welcome to come, there will be entertainment after including face-painting, balloons, African dancers and drummers, and a band.

The fee is $20 for adults, $15 for children 17 and under, and free for children under the age of 5. The registration fee includes a t-shirt and free water and snacks during the walk.

Please visit www.dhsthepromise.com, where there is more information on the background of our contribution to creating awarenes of the genocide in Darfur, as well as a link to the a website for the walk-a-thon.
