Fidelity Out of Sudan: DIVEST THE REST!!! (Divestment)
As part of the National SaveDarfur divestment campaign, we will return to Fidelity's office in the financial district to ask them to divest the remainder of their holdings in Chinese oil companies that fund the genocide in Darfur. Although Fidelity has divested all of its holdings on the New York Stock Exchange, it retains holdings on the Hong Kong exchange in companies designated as "worst offenders" by the Sudan Divestment Task Force. This is still a quite substantial amount of stock and is unacceptable.
This action will also serve notice to other investment vehicles that these holdings continue to be unacceptable.
Just like last time, we will target the am rush hour on Wall Street. This time, however, we will all meet in front of the Fidelity offices at 61 Broadway at 7:30 am. We will provide flyers. We have a few signs. If you would like to make your own signs, Fidelity OUT of Sudan: DIVEST THE REST!! or DON'T INVEST OUR MONEY IN GENOCIDE would be appropriate messges.
