My Story: After watching a news program about the atrocities in Darfur I decided to do something to make others aware. No groups were within a sixty mile radius, so I formed the group Keokuk for Darfur. We are non-denominational, non-partisian and accept members of any age. Our mission is to educate, advocate, lobby and fundraise for the victims of the genocide in Darfur. I never considered myself a public speaker or lobbyist, but put my fears aside in order to be an advocate against genocide. I have given numerous presentations, spoken with many elected officials and presidential candidates on behalf of Keokuk for Darfur. Margaret Mead said "Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has".
