March's School of the Month

The School of the Month for March is Parsippany High School of Parsippany, New Jersey!

The African American and Latin American Clubs worked together this year to raise $1,500 for Dollars for Darfur, which was 3 times their goal of $500! The students were inspired to fundraise after learning about past cases of genocide as well as the genocide in Darfur. As one student states:

"Evidently, teachers have done something right because students are reacting to the message. Most recently, the Parsippany High School African American and Latin American Clubs have come together to raise funds for the Save Darfur Coalition."

The students used their clubs' funds to purchase scratch off cards that they would then give to interested donors. Each scratch off card had a dollar amount on it, ranging from $1-$5, which was the amount that the donor would give to the student groups for Dollars for Darfur. Along with the scratch off cards each donor also received a coupon to several restaurants and movies.

The students considered Darfur's development a priority and hope that other students nationwide will follow their example.
