The above link is a good primer to keep up to date and answer others' questions about why we are supporting the people in Darfur.

The "box" of facts is also interesting.

If you have good links to information or websites, please post them here.

A Prelude to Darfur
By Dr. Mary Rose Paster Jul 5th 2007 at 10:55 pm EDT
According to David Eggers, author of "What is the
What", the conflict in Southern Sudan in the early 80's, occurred following George Bush, Sr. surveliance maps of Sudan which discovered rich oil resources. The Dinka tribe was almost wiped out by government forces and many had to flee to Ethiopia and finally to Kenya refuge camps.

Eggers book is part biography of Valentino, one of the "lost boys" of the Sudan(one of 20,000 + boys who fled on foot and walked the distance to Ethiopia). This is a wonderful, sad, informative read.

This was my first introduction to Sudan and I got a bit hooked. Please forgive me if this posting is repetitive of another listing. I am a new member.
