Hello Everyone!

We're less than a month from our Tents of Hope event at Steele Indian School Park and we're already preparing the tent. This event will be exciting in that all involved will be working together on not just a piece of art, but one of Arizona's messages of peace, hope and continued support for the people of Darfur. Please, if you haven't done so already, RSVP at http://www.savedarfur.org/page/group/PhoenixSaveDarfur.

As a reminder, the Scottsdale Public Library will be showing the documentary Darfur Now tomorrow, the 14th at the Civic Center Branch, 3839 Drinkwater Blvd. from 1:30 - 3:30 pm. I will be wearing my green Save Darfur t-shirt and will probably carry a green binder. I hope to see you there!

September 21st is the International Day of Peace. For more information on the International Day of Peace, please visit http://www.internationaldayofpeace.org. One of the events being held in the Valley will be the Peace One Day event in Mesa, AZ. Admission is free! Information is as follows:

Date: Sunday, September 21, 2008
Time: 5:00pm - 7:00pm
Location: Riverview Park
Street: 2000 8th St.
City/Town: Mesa, AZ
Representative Kyrsten Sinema will be a guest speaker at this event! For our newer members, Kyrsten is dedicated to helping end the genocide in Darfur. This spring, she sponsored and helped get House Bill 2705 passed.

Phoenix Save Darfur is now on MySpace and Facebook! I added some pictures from the April 9th Olympic Torch Relay in San Francisco to the MySpace page. The Facebook page was created this week. I will add pictures this weekend. Also, pictures will be posted on each page from the Gathering of the Tents event in Washington D.C. once I return. The MySpace page can be found at http://www.myspace.com/darfuraz. The Facebook page can be found at http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=34164459815. Please feel free to start a discussion on the Facebook page. We welcome all questions and comments.

All my best,
Jennifer

Tents of Hope...
By Nick Oct 6th 2008 at 4:50 pm EDT (Updated Oct 6th 2008 at 4:50 pm EDT)
In attending the Tents of Hope event, the amount of support and amount of paint on the tent was absolutely wonderful. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the people from the Darfur region brought warmth to my heart as I hope it did for others as well.

To those who put the time and effort into making the event, thank you greatly! Seeing over 100 people at an event like this was great, and hopefully we'll have more events that will garner such great attention!

To my wonderful wife, Jennifer Rouse, and Jessica Couleur, I know you'll both represent the Phoenix Save Darfur delegation well in DC next month!!!!!

Hopefully we'll continue to see more and more support for the Darfur refugees and eventually bring peace and hope to a region of Africa that definitely needs it...

Hello.

I just wanted to say how great it was to be at the tent event. I was really moved by all the young kids and people of all ages out there helping and caring for this cause.

May peace come soon to the people of Africa.
