NEW YORK - May 20 - May 22 Event in New York Will Demand Bold Leadership from the Bush Administration During the June U.S. Presidency of the UN Security Council.

On May 22, Africa Action and Darfur advocacy leaders will rally to call for the top priority during the United States’ June presidency of the UN Security Council to be achieving the full deployment of the UNAMID peacekeeping force for Darfur, Sudan. This event on Thursday is expected to draw hundreds of activists from the New York area calling for action. Participants will deliver thousands of handprints and messages collected on dozens of banners representing statements of witness to the genocide gathered from around the country.

This is very good news for Darfur, help may potentially be on its way. I really hope that this rally is effective. New York is quite a while from Kentucky otherwise I'd attend, but what you and I can do is to put pressure on President Bush to ensure effective peace keeping in Darfur. Below I have a way we can do just that.

Ask President Bush to Help Ensure UNAMID is Fully Funded and Equipped

After five years of violence, displacement, and destruction, an international peacekeeping force has finally come to Darfur. Urge the President to ensure it has the necessary troop contributions and equipment to successfully carry out its mission.

Take Action; Send a message to President Bush today
