The San Antonio Interfaith Darfur Coalition is an organization formed to address the crisis of genocide in Darfur. Our focus is to share information with the San Antonio community at large, to inform, invite and encourage others in our community to join their voices and actions to our endeavors, and to in turn inspire additional participation from friends, family and neighbors. Meetings are scheduled as needed at University Presbyterian Church, 300 Bushnell, corner of Shook and Bushnell. Please check our blog (SAIDC.blogspot.com) for info on meeting dates/times.

Francis Bok

This past Saturday I attended a panel discussion on slavery and had the chance to hear Francis Bok speak on his life, book, future etc...I wish he would of had time to speak longer because in just the short time of his speech I was inspired! He has had such a crazy, hard life yet he has remained positive and has fought for himself as well as for others as hard as he could all along the way. It made me really think about how easy my life is and how negative I can be. He inspired me to keep a positive head about everything and to acitively try to make life better for those around me- both near and far! I want to buy his book and get to know his life in greater detail- I hope to hear him speak again at some point. Bok is truly an inspirational (there really is no better word for him in my opinion, besides abolishinist) person!!

Request re User Names

I am the person who has been keeping the membership roster and sending emails to the local San Antonio members of the SAIDC up to this point. We are now transitioning to using this listserv as our mode of communication. On this listserve we have a large number of "User from..." members listed. It would be helpful for each person to have a different user name. If you are listed only as "User from San Antonio [or another city]" please go into your profile (through the Dashboard tab) and change your user name to something unique. If you are concerned about privacy issues, it doesn't have to be a full name or specific identifier -- just something other than "User from..." so that we won't have several members with the same listing. Thanks.

i-ACT Darfur Campaign

Two U.S. photojournalists with StopGenocideNow.org have traveled to several refugee camps along the Chad/Darfur border to video tape personal stories of these refugees. To hear the stories directly from the refugees through i-ACT 2006 please visit: Link .

Please support i-ACT through the following campaigns:

1. i-ACT Extension : The photojournalist team is leaving behind communications equipment with refugees so our interaction continues even after they have left.

2. Camp Darfur : Invite i-ACT photojournalists, Gabriel and Stacey, to your school, college or other venue! They'll set up an interactive camp experience for you and your peers.

3. From America With Love : Record video messages for refugees like those you saw in Day 12 video. Invite Gabriel and Stacey to record your messages or make your own videos and send them to i-ACT!

Salaam,
