srry! havent been on in forever-most recent news is- Kacie and I went to see Immaculate Ilibagiza speak- rwanda survivor- and it was so moving. Not only was her speech moving but I stayed a little later and got to meet her. I was wearing my save darfur shirt-she signed it and then started to cry while thanking me for my support in darfur..so moving...it was awsome..
If you'd like to get involved locally here in Hawaii, please email Leanne at info@hawaii4darfur.org and/or visit our website at www.hawaii4darfur.org.
The Hawaii Coalition for Darfur is growing, and we continue to gain support. Thank you everyone for your support and participation. Starting in mid-January, we will be increasing our efforts to raise awareness to show the people of Darfur that Hawaii has not forgotten them, and that we care about their human rights and dignity. Please visit our newly developed and evolving website at Link to find out how you can get involved here in Hawaii. Peace and Aloha.
We had a successful sign waiving event this past Sunday. We started on Kalakaua, but then moved to the corner of Ala Moana and Atkinson Blvds. Our new campain, Make Noise 4 Darfur, got alot of honks and hollers. We had about 15 pedestrians stop and talk to us about what is happening in Darfur, many of them surprised that they didn't know. Folks that stopped, received our flier with information and how to take action.

For those of you who didn't read the Letter to the Editor in Friday's Honolulu Advertiser can go to their website access it. We have received several emails asking for more information on how to help as a result of this Letter. Again, I encourage folks to write to the newpaper, which can be done online.
We had five folks come down to the State Capital this morning to waive signs. We had some enthusiastic honks and hollers. A successful morning. Thank you to those of you who came down and showed support. I hope to see more folks come down to our sign waiving event this Saturday @ noon @ the intersection of Kalakaua and Kuhio Ave's.
On Sunday, we held our first meeting to discuss strategies for education and fundraising. While we have some fundraising ideas, our immediate goals are to raise awareness. On October 24th, we will start a sign waiving campaign. This campaign will start with Wednesday mornings outside of the State Capital and Saturday mornings in the Waikiki area. We will also schedule delegations to Senators Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka, Representative Neil Abercrombie and US Representative candidate Mazie Hirano. Please take action now and participate in one of our upcoming events!
Welcome.

Thank you for your support and action. I hope that by joining this group and/or reading the postings, you will be able to learn more about the crisis in Darfur and take action in your community. We are all so very lucky to live in our homes, without the threat of being terrorized or forced to leave, without the threat of violence simply to get water and food. We are lucky to have water and food! For many, this is not only not a reality, it is not even a dream. For many, the luxury of this dream is too far, as women watch their men being murdered and mothers watch their babies starve to death. "Never Again" echoed after the Holocaust, Cambodia and Rwanda. Here we are again, at a crossroad.

Ua Mau Ke Ea O Ka Aina I Ka Pono (The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness). Thank you for taking action for what is right and just for the people of Darfur.

Aloha.
